WHY SHOULD I MAKE A WILL?
If you do not make a Will, when you die your money, property and personal possessions (‘your estate’) will be shared according to the law and not your wishes. This could mean that someone whom you had not intended receives your estate and the person that you would want to benefit receives nothing.
It is important to remember that if you are living with someone that person will not automatically receive anything from your estate, even if you have lived together for many years and have children together. You should therefore make a Will to ensure that your partner is provided for in the way that you would wish.
By having a Will, you can say who will receive your estate and who can administer it.
When you make a Will, you can name people (called Executors) who will carry out your wishes following your death. It is possible to name Guardians in your Will for any minor children and to make gifts to loved ones, friends and charities. It is also possible to state your funeral wishes in your Will.
Many people worry about making a Will, but it is one of the most important things that you can do. It need not be expensive, but it is worthwhile obtaining advice to ensure that your Will accurately reflects your wishes.
At Anthony and Jarvie our focus is on delivering a cost effective and tailored solution to your individual needs, whatever your circumstances.
Once you have made your Will, we offer a free storage facility to ensure its safekeeping.
