What is a Lasting Power of Attorney?
A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document in which someone (the donor) gives another person (the attorney) the right to help them make decisions on their behalf.
There are two types of LPA:
- For property and financial affairs which can be for personal and business reasons
- Health and welfare
Your attorney should be an individual whom you can trust to make financial decisions and/or health and care decisions on your behalf

You can restrict the types of decisions which your attorney can make, or help you to make, or you can choose to allow him or her to make all decisions on your behalf.
After taking your instructions and discussing your options with you, we will draft your LPA. When it has been signed by you and your attorney, we will then send it to the Office of the Public Guardian for registration.
We are able to visit you in your home, care home or hospital, but there will be a small additional charge for out of office appointments.
We offer a storage facility which is free of charge to ensure the safekeeping of your LPA.
We offer a free no obligation telephone consultation should you wish to discuss the matter with one of our specialist solicitors who would be delighted to speak to you.
